Hyperpigmentation for Face Home Remedy
Human skin color depends on a pigment called melanin. An increase in melanin production causes the appearance of spots on the body, which may be dark or light. The appearance of darker spots on the face and other sun-exposed areas is called hyperpigmentation. The appearance of light-colored spots on the face and other areas is called hypopigmentation. Hyperpigmentation is more prone in hotter areas of Asia, Africa, and the Mediterranean region.
Causes of Hyperpigmentation
Table of Contents
The most common environmental cause of pigmentation is overexposure to heat and ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Excess heat disturbs the melanin-producing cells called melanocytes, resulting in hyperpigmentation. UV and thermal radiation also disturb the natural production of melanin pigment, causing dark spots, blemishes, freckles, and body pigmentation.
Injury also causes hyperpigmentation. Small or big wounds can occur due to injury and heal slowly. Sometimes, slight inflammation is left in the wounds. This inflamed area can become dark with time and lead to hyperpigmentation.
The side effects of certain medicines also cause blemishes and dark spots on the face and other areas.
Extreme emotional stress also leads to excess production of melanin in the body.
Hyperpigmentation Treatment:
Medical science can diagnose every disease. Hyperpigmentation also has many diagnoses. There are laser treatments, bleaching, physical exfoliation, chemical peels, and many home remedies that can check hyperpigmentation. However, laser treatment is very expensive and does not suit everyone. Sometimes, laser treatment is very risky. Bleaching creams are effective, but some take a lot of time to get positive results.
